Top scorer Alex Alegria is suspended after 5th yellow card of the season – 8 goals from him is 5 goals more than 2nd topscorer Nacho Abeledo, so he will be missed. The only 2 times Betis did not start with Alegria up front this season, they lost 0-2 to Cadiz and Murcia.

Also suspended is defensive anchor Rafa Navarro after his 5th booking of the season in last weekends’ defeat to Arroyo. That’s bad for Betis who didn’t play with fellow defenders Jose Caro and Jose Carlos last weekend due to injury, so coach Juan Merino might chance 75 % of his preferred back-4.

Hosts Jáen will have very fresh legs since their game last weekend against Cadiz was postponed. The two weeks rest would benefit Jáen, who looked very poor in the 0-3 defeat to Villanovense and wasn’t impressive the week before in a 0-0 draw with bottom team Cordoba B. Key-defender Fran Miranda is suspended, which is a blow, but that’s the only notable absence for the hosts.

Jaen have only lost 3 games this season but draw a record-high 10 games. With lots of Betis-problems in both defense and attack, I will be very surprised if Jaen don’t get back on track.
