Sorry about the short notice – five hours to kickoff when this is being written – but odds are surprisingly going against England. That’s gotta be wrong.

Briefly, San Marino sucks. Big time. All their players are coming from the national league, which finished in April (!). So we’re talking about part time players with about four months without a competitive game. Take a look at San Marino’s first game of the summer season, when they come from about four months off:

Sep. 3rd 2010 San Marino – Netherlands 0-5
Sep. 2nd 2011 Netherlands – San Marino 11-0
Sep. 11th 2012 San Marino – Montenegro 0-6
Sep. 10th 2013 San Marino – Poland 1-5
Sep. 8th 2014 San Marino – Lithuania 0-2

Yes, we do have some improvement in recent results, but Lithuania are definately not England, and Polen wasted so many chances in their victory that 5-1 was not a fair picture of the game.

England might be lacking some fire power up front with Sturridge and welbeck out, but players like Sterling, Kane and Oxlade-Chamberlain should be hungry enough to get England another easy win just like the past three times they beat San Marino (5-0, 8-0, 5-0).
